ATSuccess July First - 2014 • ATSuccess Village Is Born
Aug 06, 2014The beginning of July in ATSuccess Village was very quiet. I was in Brazil wathching the world cup with my two daughters, and others seemed to be quiet. This is the shortest list of Facebook comments I have ever published! Enjoy... Email Ideas Go loose with at least one email each week. By "loose" I mean improvised, out of sequence, jolly or mysterious, a different flavour from the rest. Maybe something deeply personal, that happened in the week, that illustrates clearly how you use your system with you - an operational example. You could expand that as time goes on to make this weekly email it's own thread, it's own blog, where the "examples" can be arias in the making, nodules ninxcid etc. Email Opening Rates Dropping It's normal. An opening rate of 55% is still stellar. When I did a mailout to a list of 12,000 yoga people, their opening rates - which they considered normal - was around 2%! You can bump them up by creating better headlines on the emails. An email subject is a headline - it gets the email read or not. Also, time of delivery can impact opening rates - you could ask on Facebook what's a good time for people to get their daily email? Selling A Workshop By Email Start by dropping indirect hints i.e. the whole conversation we had about "touch" as a teaching tool. Do it by stories that help them understand why you are touching, what the touch does - make them curious about that. It's OBVIOUSLY undeliverable by email. Build in the sense that there's some things you can not do by email, help them understand that. In this way the actually offer comes naturally in the flow. Think about the offer you will make: the right kind of offer is everything. Remember - they are already interested, it's the product you offer that makes the difference. Times, location, price. Also, any offer could include a online element that they could take separately if they wish - could you create that? You could experiment by asking them to optin to an email series about the workshops, but still send some stuff to the direct list. Getting them to optin to a different list gives you an early indication of interest. However, only 55% open, so you need to keep making that offer the 45% who did not open the email - can your software easily give you those emails? Most can, not sure about Aweber. How can you implement this. Take this sentence you wrote: "learning how to breathe naturally takes time and patience. you can shortcut it if you find a good voice teacher, coach or AT teacher." Make it become this: "learning how to breath naturally for singing takes time and patience, but with the expert guidance of an AT teacher using their touch, your system comes to experience a wholly new way of co-ordination, impossible to implement so instantly without the expert guidance. It saves you a lot of time and angony." Something more like that. Being Focused My experience - which is a bit spooky - is that when I am alert, focused and spending time working on my biz - not just in my biz - it starts moving ahead, growing. The opposite becomes true when I mentally wander away from it. One of my mentors said about himself "It takes a lot of focus to make $1m a year" (which he did) and that has stayed with me as a general guide. Stay focused, stay present - that by itself is already big. BodyChance Backend Just off a call with Perry Marshall this morning, and he suggested I mention to you all that I have already worked out a great back-end biz if ever you want it. The BodyChance learning eco-system is designed to draw people in slowly, and maintain them learning with you for a long, long time. It's not about me or any one teacher - it's a system of learning designed to offer people a wide berth to develop their own individuality of teaching. Keep it in mind, and talk with me about it if you are interested. It's a long term thing, takes planning, but I love the idea of an international, interconnecting learning environment that benefits everyone involved in it. Economic muscle comes from working together - not something the AT community is renowned for doing! Seasonal Changes It's a question of scale. When your biz is small, changes can happen anytime and it seems to have no pattern. However, as you grow, you come under the influence of irrefutable factors that seasonally affect sales. I can tell you Japan's pattern - like Constance says, they are consistent - but in London/UK I am not sure. I would simply go with what you already posted above Sarah. What's wrong with that? It's a best guess, and it's all you can ethically offer them. BTW Different industries have different seasonal rhythms - it you want to research it, talk to a Trade organization in Education area. Putting it in another way that may resonate better: Once you bring in a million dollars or more annually there are patterns, trust me. Below that you're right - it's hard to discern because other factors can easily distort the underlying pattern. The truth is a single operator makes their own pattern. However, to fill in the form simply follow the times when people naturally plan to learn something new. Base it on Adult Education Institutes - ring one of them up and ask "When are your busy times? When are your quiet times?" I think this industry is the closest indicator for how your business would operate based on the underlying pattern.
