Day Seven – Facebook

Sep 11, 2013

In building BodyChance I have done every critical job there is to do. Every job? Well, my staff has evolved how it is done, but over the course of 14 years I did the accounting, paid wages, designed flyers and booklets, wrote curriculum, made market research, interviewed new students, gave Intros, taught all the classes – you get the idea. Once I passed over the administrative tasks, it left me free with the teaching/marketing tasks. That marketing job always belongs to you. Now I have 10 people working full-time for BodyChance, but when that figure grows to a 100, or even a 1,000 – I will never lose this job as chief marketing person in spirit, if not in title. Why? Because marketing is another form of teaching, and teaching is what we do. So with that in mind, I have recently decided to become a FaceBook advertising Ninja. Even as I write that I hear a voice say ("Oh really? Are you sure? How about a Neophyte?"). It's one of those decisions that is head-based, without much of a heart-driving conviction behind it. However, there is congruency at every level. It is not something I don't want to do, it is something I think I can't do, yet I know I will do, because my passion and purpose depend upon it. You won't hear Zukerberg talking about this publically, but FaceBook just signed a deal with three huge, enterprise level data-mining companies in the United States. These are companies that know your teenage daughter is pregnant before you do. Read this if you don't believe me. This is a game changer, and the avatar I guided you in creating two days ago is the very tool you will use to reach your new students. Here's how… To-Day's Mission – Become a FaceBook Ninja Neophyte Advertiser

I suggest you sign up and listen to this state-of-the-art, learning edge information about what is going on today. You can do that by clicking on this link, and signing up for Perry Marshalls three seminars. If the link doesn't work, then they have already pulled down the videos. They were still available on the day I was writing, so go there quickly if you have a genuine interest. Try this link too if the other one doesn't work. That puts you in Perry's FaceBook auto-responder email series, so you will hear about future trainings. Next, check out FaceBook Advertising at this link and have fun exploring. Hit the green button, then use the next screen to enter in the details of your Avatar. Make sure you choose a Page Post add – these are popular posts you have made previously (you can select them from a drop down menu) that will appear in other people's news feeds. Using paid advertising, FaceBook will put your post into the news feed of people who fit your Avatar description. How simple is that?! Of course – where are you going to take them? To become a fan of course. You can make them friends too if you like, but that is an even longer term strategy. If you only have a personal profile, but you don't have a FaceBook Business Page, go ahead and make one for your avatar niche. As you create the parameters of your add – you will be building your avatar profile – FaceBook will tell you how big a niche you have. When I explored just people who were interested in Alexander Technique, FaceBook sadly told me "Insufficient number of people to guarantee any clicks!" We are not selling Alexander Technique – now you know why. No-one is buying it. They are however buying solutions to the problems you have identified exist for your Avatar. More on this as we go on this month and next. As a tip – make an add, give your credit card details, click the submit button and that will take you to the Advertising Manager. Bookmark that page so you can easily find it again. You can pause your add so it doesn't cost you anything just yet. You will see your new add listed, or you will see a sign saying they are reviewing your add. In that case, they will send an email saying your add is approved, and then you will see it listed, with the ability to pause it so you don't pay any money for it yet. Let me know in our FaceBook group if you want more guidance about this – remembering that many of you could easily overtake me and become our resident expert. I could soon be learning from some of you… And for some of you, this is not your path. Be you, be real, be congruent.
