M01.05 - Chaotic Insider Thinking

May 10, 2013

I need your advice. How we do the next three months together? If you think I have a plan, you don’t know me. I am like Alan Ayckbourn, a legendary British playwright, who announces his next play, sells it to a theatre company which proceeds to cast actors, then 3 weeks before the rehearsals begin he starts writing. Bedroom Farce was done this way, but so quickly that Ayckbourn wrote three different endings beacuse he couldn't decide in the time he had which was the best to go with. Result? The cast throw a coin at the interval, and that decides how the play will end that night. I basically want to do that same with you - give you three endings, throw the dice by asking you which you want, then go for it. This process will take a few days... First question though: is it still a blog? Or is it ‘essays of thought’ organized in a systematic way, but still coming out chaotically, designed to help you… Organize Your Own Excerpts What I want here is a deeper, detailed discussion on each person’s business plan. I want to hear your thoughts and experiences, others want to hear them too. So I have your story on file, but now what I would like you to do is go over it again, and gather some some excerpts to send me. Tighten it up – keep the pith. Opinions, some good writing about the work that you like you did – anything. I will start publishing these as we go along. I have a treat to start us on Sunday – Veronique’s feedback from Ireland. *** Alexander Technique marketing is unique – it is almost like a religion, but not. Emphatically not. There is no cosmology. His Holiness Dalai Lama defined religion as any set of thoughts that included the idea of an afterlife. Alexander Technique envisages no after life. Zen practices are the same approach – just the here and now folks, that’s all that matters – which is I think why Alexander Technique has been muddled into Zen along the way sometimes. Anyway, I am talking to my biz mentor Paul Lemberg, and he starts to laugh. I say: “What is it?” Paul: “I don’t have many clients who think like you.” Then he decided that Alexander Technique was like a religious business. Of course there are plenty of those, learning Centres around charismatic Christian leaders. Is BodyChance headed that way? Is Alexander Technique? Certainly not. It’s the Science that grounds our work. The staggering array of stunning experiments yet to be accomplished for our technology is still rather lacking. Remarkable to think that now, 130 years later, Alexander’s theories are still challenging the limits of technology, much as Einstein’s did for so many decades last century. Alexander’s ideas are still elusive to substantiate objectively. Of course, when the science starts to come out, it will be rather shocking. And it will be a great pioneering opportunity to make a lot of money… BodyData: A Billion Dollar Alexander Business One of BodyChance’s early experiments – BodyData – we spent 5 years systematically collecting data by tracking individual students over a period of 2 years. All students would spend 3 hours every 4 months being tested against 7 different criteria. There were photos front and side, breath stress tests, balance exercises, a standard psychological profiler, videos of sitting, standing, walking and bending. BodyChance’s Japanese medical advisor, an eminent Emeritus Neuro-Surgeon and publisher of popular books, decided to step in. He started doing diagrams, collecting data, offering advice – but it was too early for us. And, frankly, my passion wasn’t in it. The Doctor then put me into contact with several universities, one of which carefully examined our data with a view to mining it… Alas! The data was too crude, too poorly collected to be of any significance scientifically. Talk did venture over to new means and ways, and I could write a week of blogs explaining that whole adventure to you! Actually, it is potentially a big business, and I plan to make a lot of money innovating in the field when BodyChance hits the gravity of being able to hold such a project in it’s orbit. BodyData was too ahead of it’s time – technology, at a price we could afford, was still not ready. Soon it will be, if it isn’t already…… Greg Holdaway wrote to me just recently, sending me a link to leading edge technology that we could use to kick start BodyData again. But not now, not for many years. Its on the list. *** For now – what do with us, this small but passionate membership? Currently I have 2 Pro Members (Welcome Sara and Rossella – did you get my email?), 12 Full Members and 31 Lite Members. 45 of us, and growing. So this is not really a Blog anymore, nor is it FaceBook. This is a different place. And defining this space is one of the first tasks ahead.  I think we need to start at Step 12 – Joint Venture’s & Partners. What is possible together? That is a question… Which leads me to my new course. I intend to map the 12 steps onto Alexander’s story, or any story of epic change. As part of the BodyChance ProCourse ThinkingBody, students study Alexander’s Story mapped on to the nine steps of my “Change Compass”. These 9 steps I originally extracted by first studying Alexander’s story, then mapping it on to Gurdjieff’s Energy Enneagram, not the Personality Enneagram, although I know that very well too. So where was I? This is Insider Thinking, this is what happens when visions, half merging into the material by assuming gravitational properties, start to distract and pull in all sorts of directions. The fog of confusion this creates, as I wrote yesterday, always proceeds the sunshine. My idea is to ask you what you want, by offering three options. I want to poll you on the options and this again has to do with Passion, the primary success driver. Passion sits behind Primary Control, passion drives it all. So if I can align your passions with mine, then there is more likelihood that together we can succeed. So I am polling your passions. The next three blogs will be about each of my three ideas. At the end of that I will poll you all, and see if the one you choose agrees with me. If it does, we are in business. Tomorrow then. (I promise to be more organized in my writing)
