Step Two - Distinguish Success From Facebook Goals

Goals are great, but success is not related to goals. Success is a state of mind, not a thing you “get”. You can have success today, immediately, providing you decide so. It comes from celebrating what you have - which is already enough when you consider it deeply. However, when you define “success” as a goal to achieve, you paradoxically create a state of mind that jeopardizes your ability to achieve it. Success need not depend on realising your goals - success is a state of being. Management of your state is singularly the most important task of all. Alexander Technique teachers are incredibly blessed in this way - all of us have had the experience of entering a lesson in a less than wonderful state, and ending it totally transformed and happy. Why wait till you give a lesson? Being In A State To Tackle Facebook Before I go into the technicalities of Facebook, it’s important to deal with the underlying beliefs that can jeopardize your ability to learn and implement. As an exercise, write down all the reasons you tell your Self why this month is going to be hard for you. For example “I have no niche” “I am not good with technical things” “Jeremy blogs too much - I can’t keep up!” “Other people are better than me.” and so on. This process is about guiding your state. Passion, wish, desire - these will drive your ability to make Facebook work for your business. I advocate using it in your teaching - let students decide the activity - and I advocate using desire with Facebook! Even so, I suggest you start the month open to discovering… - I want to be involved in Facebook more; OR - Facebook is not the tool for my business right now. Choice is not available when you think towards an exclusive outcome. It’s one reason Alexander practiced a long time choosing to do different things every time the desire came to recite. (Incidentally, it was only after reading his origin story over 100 times that I deeply insighted this critical part of his 5 step plan!) Give up having any “have to” or “musts” with Facebook. Too much of this thinking will jeopardize your ability to decide what is best for you right now. The information I am producing this month will be available as long as you stay with our coaching group. One lesson a month - $48 - is not much to pay to keep you awake to the need to work on your business. I know - from feedback - that you sometimes feel “Oh, I can’t keep up” but I would argue that this voice is a wonderful song playing in your life right now. Keep singing it, because it functions as a temple bell to continuously awaken your wish to creatively develop your life. Reconnect again to why you doing this. Why Facebook? Why Alexander Technique? A plan has no power without passion to propel it. The single impediment to passion are the negative voices singing “I cant’. I won’t. I daren’t. I’m not.” How do you know? Banish these thoughts to another galaxy by questioning how true they are. Discover how you are already successful. Celebrate you now - not the person you imagine becoming tomorrow. I believe you all have passion brimming over, that is not the thing to find. That is what is left when you question and dissolve negative thoughts that would not have you be as wonderful as you already are. This may seem a weird way to start a month on how to use Facebook, but without unimpeded passion at your service, nothing gets done. You are successful already, and your passion can drive you to seek creative means to communicate with others your bubbling wish to give.
