The Trouble With Being Tense

Jul 31, 2018

These days, you can read a lot about tension, neck aches, back pain. And yet, most people seem to put up with it, thinking it's a normal part of everyday life.

Instead, the focus is on ‘mental stress' – people want to deal with this first.

How do I know this? This is how…

BodyChance does work for Corporations. Usually, because they have a staff problem that is costing them money, and we offer an unusual and innovative Postural solution.

At the start of any contract, our first step is to gather information from employees on how they see their problems. We ask all kinds of questions – about their physical pain, their motivation, their mental problems, workplace relations and difficulties of their job.

Two surprising trends have come out of our research:

1. People rate problems of metal stress far ahead of physical pain.

2. People with consistent pain issues are the least motivated to work.

Results like these should trouble any company manager who cares about his staff.

Hidden between the lines of these results is a startling fact: physical stress is mental stress. There is no difference between the mental stress issues and the physical pain issues – the two go in tandem.

Haven't you noticed how much easier it is to deal with stressful situations when you've had a good night of sleep and feel good in your body?

Or conversely, how easily you get mentally disturbed when you're physically exhausted, have a headache and much with a neck and shoulder pain?

In our work, we start with the simple proposition: before you start trying to deal cognitively with mental stress issues, deal with of the way they are manifesting in your Posture.

This is much simpler and easier to do.

Students learn to identify when you are tightening between head and spine, and putting unnecessary downward pressure on your whole physical self. Once you have that, you can ask a simple question:

To deal with this person/issue/problem – is it necessary for me to be making so much physical pressure? No, it is not necessary. And suddenly, by this simple physical change, your mental stress is transformed.

Just like magic.

Except it is not magic – it is conscious, constructive thinking applied to the way you handle your Posture as you deal with the mental stress issues that surround you.

Students want to understand how Alexscovery teachers will deal with their mental stress issues. You have the job of making that connection. In my new coaching plan, I will be putting more emphasis back into your teaching methods, and how to be a “markeacher” – a person who can produce an attractive message that includes the ability to learn from it.
