Your Daily Practise

The only way to grow your practice is to be in contact with people who can join your practice. It's a simple rule. For example - think about today:

Did you make any kind of contact with prospective students today?

  • Did you make a flyer? Or write a workshop description?
  • Did you add some new material to your website?
  • Did you write an email to anyone about your work?
  • Did you chat on the phone to an interested person?
  • Did you meet with anyone today to talk about your work?
  • Did you contact a school, Centre or community organisation?
  • Did you share your work on Facebook or other social media?

There are so many ways that you can make your presence felt. And on any day, count the amount time you did that. Nothing? 5 minutes? One hour? More?

If you don't have enough students, I guarantee that you are not giving enough time to contact those students. The simple rule is this:

You cannot grow your practice unless you - or one of your agents (website, email, flyer) - is in contact with prospective students.

Every day think: what could I do today that would put me in contact with prospective students?

Then every day, check: what amount of time did you spend on that?

Of course, the question then comes:

  • What kind of students do I want to contact?
  • Where do I find these students to be in contact with?
  • What am I going to stay to them?

These are the foundational questions that are answered on my 60Day Course. Starting in October, I will be helping a group of teachers and trainees get clear on the daily practise of building a practice.
