A Little Bit of Nonsense Goes a Long Way to Making You Depressed

One of the most frustrating aspects of seeking Corporate work as an Alexscovery teacher is the lack of control you have.

Which is - ZERO.

Of course, that's a radical statement. I am sure a few minds out there are already starting to pen outraged replies to Chancer...

WAIT.

Before you do anything else, read the rest of Chancer's Daily.

Take failure.

You tried, you did your BEST, but….

- he didn't call back (despite 5 reminders)

- the HR person had no power

- the company had no budget

- she left her HR job (just as you were closing)

When you fail - because of one of a multitude of reasons - do you blame your Self?

Maybe you do. But that - to be unkind about it - is monumentally DUMB.

How can you control their budget?

How can you keep your contact in her HR job?

As one of my teachers puts it:

"Who needs God when we've got you?"

When your opportunity is lost for reasons like these - it's the height of arrogance to get deflated and depressed - as though YOU should have had CONTROL over THOSE factors.

Really? Do you actually believe such nonsense?

A little bit of constructive thinking is an effective antidote to your ego's little tantrum of depression.

You. Had. No. Control.

But what if you had won the contract - as happened with Chancer recently?

Do you think you are the one who succeeded?

It's another fairy tale - a happy one for your ego for sure - but more nonsense nonetheless.

You. Have. No. Control.

So face up to it Possum - get with reality and find the way to make it work.

Oh - did I forget to mention that?

Yes! It. Can. Work.
