Add a Zero to Your Fee

I heard a funny story - from a person who shall remain nameless - about quoting for a rich corporate client. It was AT dressed up nicely to fit the environment, and the teacher had prepared a proposal with a modest fee.

His personal friend - who worked at the company - was presenting the quote to a meeting of bigwigs. Just before the meeting, the teacher got a call from his friend. He was standing outside the room, and whispering to the teacher…

"Can I add a zero to your quoted fee?"

Welcome to the world of corporations.

Starting next month, I am going to present a new MasterMinders program to encourage, support and guide teachers to refocus their efforts towards corporations.

If you are challenged financially, and you are looking for a method to increase your income, this may be the way to go. It won't happen quickly - corporations move slowly. You also need confidence in your ability to teach, and some contacts or avenues you can pursue at the start.

You may have more of those than you currently realise.

Success is not guaranteed. But for the person willing to focus and put in the time, it can work. I know, I've done it several times, but then on each occasion, I've moved on to other locations and let it slip.
