Adorning Yourself While Being Led To The Execution Ground

The title of this email is a quote from Lama Tsongkhapa - a monk who reformed Buddhism in Tibet in the 14th and 15th centuries.

He refers to how we blissfully hide from ourselves inevitable conclusion of our life.

Who wakes up believing today is the day you die?

Did you think that this morning? I'd wager not.

Death is as natural as birth. We adorn the latter while being led to the former. Lama Rinpoche - now the head of the largest Buddhist organisation in the West - used to collect photos of people in an instant before death.

I saw one photo in a Newspaper in Australia like that. It showed a cheerful couple - smiling for the camera - while behind them loomed a freak wave of tsunami proportions. The caption informed the reader that seconds after this photograph was taken, the wave swept them off the rock to their Execution Ground.

Such is the life of the living - we are all heading to death.

So what has prompted Chancer with these gloomy prognostications?

Honestly speaking?

Firstly, I just LOVED that quote and wanted to use as a Subject heading.

Secondly, I like to remind my Self of death - it sobers me to the present.

How often are you asking: do I want to be doing what I am doing right now?

Chancer himself spent years doing a practice of waking up in the morning and concluding there was no rational reason why today wouldn't be the last day of his life.

Therefore - how could you put today to its best use?

Make sure you die doing what you love is best.

And yet many Alexscovery teachers reluctantly take a day job - or give up teaching - because it's getting too hard to earn a living that way.

Keep the day job. Don't give that up.

HOWEVER

There is a way forward. And it's easier than you think.

When you hear the first step of my plan for teachers to get work in businesses, you will wonder why you hadn't done that before…

And teachers are already doing it.

And it is already working.

And it can work for you.
