Affirmations in Alexander Business - What is an Affirmation?
Mar 31, 2018in my mind, there is a stubborn little collection of neurons who secretly believe:
"Come on Jerry, who are you kidding? You can never speak Japanese fluently. First - you're too damned old. Second - you have never been good at languages. Third - your memory is almost totally screwed by all your years of drinking."
Would an affirmation help in countering all that garbage?
An affirmation is an invention - aspiring to become what isn't existing yet. It's an act of creation. So do I say:
1. "I will... as in "this is going to happen."
or
2. "I can... as in "I have the ability to do this."
WILL or CAN?
1. I WILL become fluent in Japanese
OR
2. I CAN become fluent in Japanese.
"I will" seems action orientated; "I can" merely an admission of possibility.
However, to take action, you need some belief: "I can."
"Can" is a turnaround to "can't" - and it may be that this comes first.
And the turnaround that will help your practice best is:
"I can get Alexander work with businesses."
THEN
"I will get Alexander work with businesses."
And that - dear Possum - is why you sign up for my course starting in May.
