Again, Everyone And Everything Become Revolting To Him. 

A friend recently wrote to me saying: 

" Jeremy - what's going on? You look very happy lately!" 

He doesn't follow my Daily of course, or he'd know I was in the midst of love. 

Not real love, but the false kind: infatuated love. 

Infatuated love is a glorious feeling laced with poison. 

It isn't love, it is personality wanting something. It is designed to kill love, not nurture it. And yet the beauty of infatuation is that, for a brief moment of time - as my friend astutely observed - you unlock love towards your Self.  

It's as though Nature designed a preview of enlightenment for us all. 

Your self-image - believing it is loved by another wondrous being - undergoes a transformation. Joy surges through your every cell, and this power collects in your mind: suddenly strangers appear as friends; enemies are forgiven; and nothing is an obstacle to success any more. 

Then Nature constructed hell - a preview of life without enlightenment. 

Leo Tolstoy - in a wonderful passage from Anna Karenina - captures this downfall… 

[The older Levin is married to the youthful Kitty - IN LOVE - and Vasenka is a handsome Petersburg youth, engaging in dinner conversation with Kitty, as Levin jealously watches…] 

"There was something impure in Vasenka's attitude, his look and his smile. Levin even saw something impure in Kitty's pose and smile; and again the light faded from his eyes. Again, as on the previous occasion, he suddenly, without the least interval, felt thrown from the height of happiness, peace and dignity into an abyss of despair, malevolence, and degradation. Again, everyone and everything become revolting to him." 

The fragile and transient false love of personality. 

The poison of a personality in love, is that your love of Self is dependent upon another person's reciprocation. 

When they fail to reciprocate - or direct their love elsewhere - your heart is seized by despair… 

"Levin, who but a few moments before had been in the brightest of spirits, was now looking dismally at every one, dissatisfied with everything." 

How sudden the transformation from enlightenment to despair! 

By as luck would have it, infatuation opens a door into the hidden self-hate that triggers all depressions, without exception. 

If you can, use this time. It is a precious gift. 

The door is ajar, and who you are able to see the hidden self that underlies all.  

Alexander's discovery is a barometer of this hidden Self.  

Your head and spine move proudly to the beat of your heart. 

My own journey into the work was triggered by this insight - that through this simple head/spine relationship, love and fear tell their story.

Because this primary relationship is calibrated by your love of Self. 

And it reveals the presence of fear, every time.
