Are You Doing What You Need to be Doing?

Yesterday I attended my own Mastermind in Soho, London.

Peter Jacobson was there - talking about his Total Vocal Freedom Alexander business that he started during his first year with ATSuccess.

Three years down the track - it is now a thriving business.

Here's a quick run-down:

TVF Academy - 64 Singers from around the world.

TVF Pro - 12 Singers who have signed up for a two year Certificate course

These two are the basic staples of any successful practice: the front end (Academy) and the back end (Pro).

To be sustainable over the long term - YOUR practice needs to be built to these specifications. Have you got that in place?

Front ends are the glitzy and friendly - bright and shiny objects that bring people in the door.

Back ends are the serious, longer-term trainings that can enhance anyone's Professional abilities. Peter helps singers - who do you help?

Back ends give you income security - these people are committed to your practice. Now you can start counting on a basic income from which to experiment with new bright and shiny objects, also known as your service Products (what, when, how long, how much etc.)

However - it doesn't work to just have a backend, such as Professional training. I suspect that's why ACAT in New York is sadly closing down after 50+ years - they didn't pay attention to their front end. Nothing survives without that.

Peter is always experimenting with new service Products to attract people in the door. Recently he hit upon a rich vein - an exciting new course that he calls:

"The Phoenix Project for the Ageless Singer"

He wanted 12, hoped for 5 or 6 and ended up with a waiting list.

This is easily the most electrifying response to a new idea he has had recently. It took no effort to fill the course - with entirely new people. And he has another course "Alexander Technique for Singers" that is focused on teachers of singing that pulled in another 21 people. All different. All new.

What are you doing now in your practice to attract new people?

This is what I will be exploring with those lucky few who have taken the time to join me in London this weekend. Frankly, I am surprised how few took up my offer this year - and relish the opportunity to be able to offer those few a high-quality, intensive exploration to come up with a plan for the next year. You could be one of them too (if you're local).
