As Part of the Xmas Spirit
Dec 19, 2017As part of the Xmas spirit, here's a jolly feedback to Chancer from a Daily reader who is an Alexscovery teacher - NOT.
Her enthusiastic request - together with my email that sparked it - are below.
Take it away Christine…

Hurraaay dear Jeremy!
Allow me to express my enthusiasm with the words of Walter Matthau in the movie "Front Page": "Now you're cooking"!
I have been hoping for a long time, that you would find the time and agree to the importance of this topic, enough to share with us, your humble and grateful pupils, some of your crystal clear ideas and observations on this area of human behaviour.
I am convinced, that feelings of insecurity, uneasiness, fear and old stuff is one of the biggest obstacles for a lot of people, when they are trying to make something or something different out of themselves and their lives.
We want to, so much, we wish and long for it, our motivations are skyhigh but all the same, we end up "netflixing" as you call it, instead.
Why???
This devilish need to check the feeling, to try to reinstall the "right" feeling, the hanging on to the "good" feeling, the wondering if you are ok as you are, is one of the most difficult obstacles to overcome and to manage.
Short Version: FEAR!
Hence all the still very popular (and as it seems, mostly useless) self-development-books. To "live to your full potential" is a dream very much alive among a lot of us but our Feeling-out is in the way.
I am therefore looking forward to learn more about how to get around and make friends with this tricky and overwhelming powerful "thing", that keeps me from real change.
Directly or indirectly. Whatever works.
Please bring it on mr. Chance. I have hopes.

Last night I was teaching my students how to co-ordinate to do what they wanted to do. One of my students was doing a simple thing – opening his case and pulling out his instrument.
And yet, every moment, he was “wondering” = “checking his feeling”.
- Am I doing this right?
- Could I do this better?
- What am I doing wrong?
I bet you think that sometimes?
It also involves feeling your body: first, you don’t like what you feel, so then you start trying to find the right feeling…? I see a lot of people do that.
Well, here’s my tip of wisdom today:
You cannot make yourself feel something. It is not how you are designed. Feelings – whether sensory or emotional – are reports from your past! Even if that past was only a nano-second ago.
So if you can’t change feelings directly, what can you do?
That's what I put into ThinkingBody. Finally, the 2nd Module is done.
