Being Too Nice is a Terrible Way to Run Your Practice

In an effort to be "nice" and show that we are not all about "money" we do some pretty inane things. We feel good about them, but they are a terrible way to run a business.

Here's an example.

I recently received a long and splendid email from an ex-ATSuccess member. As I got to the end of it, I saw no link or way that I could carry on and learn more about what he was selling.

On an impulse - I don't always dispense free advice because I have found people don't value it - I sent him a message - praising the message he wrote to his audience - then scolding him for not including a link to further products.

He wrote back politely with the comment:

Thank you, Jeremy. And I am sure you are right.

The devil's advocate in me wonders, though, could there possibly be some benefit to occasionally engaging and connecting without anything else? Just asking!! :)

Benefit for who?

Follow this carefully because they is a lot of NO BENEFIT happening in his being-nice email.

Think of it like this:

You are a reader, and you want to know more - why not give them an opportunity? Why deny them?

People are adults. If your email was enough, they know they don't have to click the link.

So you served them very well. GOOD. Nice and all that.

However, those that are hungry for more are NOT being served.

And you are NOT serving your Self - 1st AT principle.

Instead, you are weakening your biz by not asking for something in return for all the effort you just made to write the email.

You are running a business, aren't you?
