Being User Friendly To the World

Years ago, I heard an inspiring insiders story about Marshall Rosenberg.

And it changed the way I lived my life, almost every day. Maybe it's a myth, or maybe it's a metaphor Marshall wanted to spread, but either way I am going to tell you what I heard, and invite you to try it out.

Rosenberg founded NVC (Non-violent Communication) but he started out in a very un-user-friendly place.

Marshall was doing things he didn't want to do.

He was working as a clinical psychologist who started to believe that this was not his calling. And here was his problem - he was getting very well paid for it. What was the alternative?

Driving taxis.

And that's what he did! Brave.

Rather than keep doing something he both disliked and disbelieved, he downsized his life and reengineered his identity into one that ultimately segued into leading a new movement of compassionate communication.

How much of your passion and joy is driving what you do today?

After I heard Marshall's story, I asked my Self: what would it be like to spend every day only doing what I wanted to do? Wow. That seemed impossible…

So I started to follow his discipline to find out. Today I am pretty successful at it. I do what I want to be do - happily. Or unhappily, if that's what I perversely want. Are you perfect?
