Netflix has recently launched a new series "Mindhunter."

It's about how the FBI came to identify the "sequence killer" in the midst of urban American life. I was watching it last night, and it reminded me of an eerie time I had in Chicago.

Erik Larson's "The Devil in White City," tells the story of the first Ferris Wheel et al. in Chicago's World Columbian Exposition in 1893; and of Dr. Holmes - who, while all that was going on - became one of the most prolific serial killers in American history.

When I stay in a new city, I like to find a novel or historical read about the place. Larson's book was recommended, and I ended up walking the same streets that this insane murderer inhabited.
