Can You Transform Through Reading?

Mar 26, 2017

Christina Grönbech is not an Alexander teacher or trainee. (Her sister is)

However, she enjoys reading my Daily because (she writes) …

… it allows people like me to read even more about the experiences, interpretations and thoughts made by a very, very skilled AT-teacher. And I already really enjoy reading your mails so I welcome your initiative very much.

Not sure about the “very, very” (thank you) but otherwise -- > TRUE.

In Japan – where I send out the translation of my DAILY – many public readers are receiving and reading it. Teachers tell me students come into their lessons with: "What did Jeremy mean by this?" and the lesson is charged with new, unexpected content.

Why not use my daily as a teaching tool for YOUR students?

Students will get stimulated – bring it into your lessons. And that’s why I love Christina’s next question…

… Nevertheless I have been wondering lately if I should read less and "practice" more at my level? (I have only been taking lessons for a bit more than a year). Is my ingrown habit to intellectualise everything getting the upper hand without me realising this? Is it safer to read about the technique than it is to "do the work"?

To read about it gives me the impression that I am "doing" something to get better at the technique. Is it so or am I cheating myself? Is it just another hidden habit working in me?

Everything is a habit. What makes us great, also makes us bad. It’s about process, not right and wrongs. And as for whether reading is good…

Oh yes! Keep reading!!!

Absolutely you learn by reading and thinking.

It’s called “CONSCIOUS Constructive Guidance and Control” for a reason. How we think is critical to how we move our whole Self (head/spine and me).

Experience is a catalyst for development, not a cause.

Your insights are cause.

AMEN.
