Cate Blanchett Gets Alexander Lessons at NIDA

NIDA (National Institute for Dramatic Art) is Australia's premier acting school in Sydney.

Mel Gibson, Cate Blanchett and a swag of other well-known actors, designerS and directors have emerged from that institution.

Back in 1980, there was no Alexander work at NIDA.

I had just arrived in Sydney, and found NIDA producing a new glossy pamphlet about its services. With no internet back then - this was a defining document that would last a long time.

The politically savvy Head of Acting declared to me…

"Alexander has to get in it!!"

…when we met the first time. I'd just done an Alexander class for his acting students, and he was thrilled to know it was now available.

"If you get in the brochure - they have to keep Alexander in the curriculum!"

CLEVER.

To this day - 38 years later - Alexander is still being taught at NIDA.

NIDA was a business customer.

Readers may have an image that "business or corporate work" is about Google or Nike or some big-sized company making loads of profit.

Not at all. Your local music school qualifies.
