Day Six - Congruency

This morning I was selecting a top to wear. and shuffling through the neat plastic packets that my Japanese laundry service provides, and I heard my Self thinking "Oh, I should wear that brown one today because I am working at home." Then I noticed: "But I want to wear the blue one!" The contrary thought was: "Save that blue one for teaching, you should wear the brown one today." I wore the blue one. I do that, because I want to be congruent with my wants. These days I don't do "shoulds" I do "wants." What I have noticed is that "shoulds" are almost always about what I think you want. One the other hand "wants" are about what I want. Living out of wants brings joy; living out of shoulds brings doubt and uncertainty. When a "should" is operating, there is no confirmation available from within – confirmation is out there: you need to seek it, to find: "Yes, you are good boy. We love you because you wore your blue top to-day." It's ridiculous. This is no way to live, unless suffering and uncertainty is something that appeals to you? Today's Mission – Do What Do You Wish For

It's been a hectic week – I am feeling it, and I can see from two posts this morning on FaceBook, some of you are feeling it too. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your business is… Nothing. Yes, that's right. Rest is an engine too. I first discovered the power of sleep as a motivator for action when I was on a three month retreat in the Solukhumbu valley in Nepal. I was up every morning at 3.30am to start my practises, and usually in bed by 9pm each night. Not much sleep, but then I was sitting on a cushion muttering mantras to my Self most of the day. However, some nights I didn't make it to sleep till 10pm, even a little later. What I discovered, is the next day became an emotional roller coaster. Any little thing could send my off into a negative spin. It took me awhile to correlate the two – lack of sleep and my unhappy days – but slowly I got the connection, and make sleep – deep rest – a priority. I am sensing this might be a good move for some of you today. That avatar exercise is a biggie, and my advice is to let it go into your unconscious for awhile – not to immediately try and do it. Of course if it's fun for you to do – go play! But this is an exercise you let seep into you over time. Watching and wondering – remember some one else who did that so successfully? This is part of skilful business building – to be congruent to your wish, to your passion. Connect whatever you are doing to the reason you are doing it. If then no wishing energy flows to the action, it could be you are just darned tired! Forget all your "shoulds" and go to bed. These days, as part of my practise, I move with my deepest wish – that wants me to do this, or that. Whenever I encounter a "should" or guilt – if at all possible I refuse to act on that. I would say I am 87% successful living this way. Build your business congruently with what you want for you. When it starts feeling too hard, give your Self a break and think this is my task today. To do nothing and energize my Self again. Your mission (should you wish to accept it) is to make sure you love living your life: every action every day, every second of every minute, till there is nothing left but joy.
