Deep Thinking - Our Greed

Aug 23, 2014

Greed is a form of emotional stupidity - it's reducing a potential Porsche into being driven like a Model T Ford. Businesses driven by greed wreck havoc in Society. Greed is biologically sound, and cute to see in a puppy, but it can reduce a human life into shambles, make nonsense of conscious evolution and bring ruin to a company. Think Enron. How do I know all this? Because I am greedy. It's not an instinct I admire, nor one I cultivate, yet it's potential to govern my critical life decisions is nothing short of scary. You are greedy too - because you are built for it. It's a driver which needs conscious moderation. Don't think greed is all about money. You could be greedy for your partner's vulnerability: "Why won't you talk to me? Why do you always clam up when I try to discuss something?" Greed. What right do you have to demand that someone behaves in a way that is pleasing to you? Pure greed and selfishness. People are quick to see greed in others, blind to it's existence in their thinking. Greed ultimately boils down to this: what I have is not enough. Catch your Self saying that about anything? Greed. The truth is: if I live, I have what I need. Deeper analysis shows: I have more than I need. Be satisfied Jerry with what you have. Are you satisfied?
