DeepThinking - Using Time
Aug 26, 2014I don’t understand time - Einstein messed that up. However, I know my personal time is finite. Even though I can never know the number, I can know my breaths are limited. Each breath is a count down to my last. One day, my last breath will be inhaled, and the countdown over. Every day I am closer to that moment. Not a person past, present or future can ever overcome the end of their time, and certainly not you. Once it is gone, your time is never coming back. Friends, money, opportunities are not like that. They can be lost and found many times over in one lifetime: lost money can be gathered back; lost friends can be forgiven and loved; lost opportunities can be replaced by new ones. My time can not be gathered back, rekindled or replaced. My time is forever lost. I wonder why money, or people or opportunities are the things that concern us most? How often is lost time the subject at dinner? I wonder why so few of us ever think about lost time? I think it is because my time feels so abundant, my time feels as though it is infinite. I think because time is free, and so easily available, I forget it’s finite nature. Yet time is fundamentally different in a way that goes mostly unrecognised. It is more precious than anything we have, because without it, we can have nothing. How do I use my time? How do you use your personal time? It’s my wondering today.
