Getting to the Bottom of A Top

How do you figure out who's the top person in a corporate hierarchy?

Getting to the bottom of that is a skill set of successful corporate players.

Yuko Suzuki is one of those players. She's a smart, ageless artist, who was once supporting top-level executives as corporate staff in SONY - at the heart its operations in Tokyo.

She eventually left and pursued a career as an artist - Zelan - not in small part because of her contact with the Chancer and Alexander's discovery.

We sometimes spent our entire session exploring the subtler points of Buddhist practice, which held a peculiar fascination for both of us.

So when ATA - as people knew us in those days - started crashing in 2004, I turned to Yuko for help. She introduced me to the three experts:

The first could only speak Japanese, so I nixed that. Chancer is not language smart.

The second said: "Sure, we can make his biz work if he pays us $30,000." Ummm, no thanks. If I had that much, I would probably know what to do anyway.

Finally the third - Tom: "For $3,000 I will come in and evaluate your business, and give a report on recommended changes."

It was a lot of money for me then - but I gulped, agreed, and the rest is history.

BTW One of the changes Tom recommended was to change our name to BodyChance. His idea, not mine. He explained that "Alexander Technique" was off-putting for Japanese. It sounded too technical and aloof.

These days, Tom's gone, but Yuko survives. She now networks her old biz contacts to open the door for BodyChance's new venture into the corporate world.

You need a Yuko, and you probably have one already without knowing it.
