How To Be Lucky
Mar 06, 2018It's a joke in Hollywood - the lucky "overnight success."
Everyone knows, there's no such thing. It's a fairy tale.
But Hollywood LOVES fairy tales - they want us to believe in them.
IT'S NONSENSE.
When Joel Grey first appeared in Cabaret with Liza Minnelli, everyone was raving about this incredible new "talent" that just appeared on the movie scene.
Really?
Joel was 34 at the time; he'd already received a Tony for the same Broadway performance; he came from a Yiddish theatre background and starting performing with his family at 19.
That's 15 years of preparation for his lucky "overnight success".
There are a million stories like these.
And I bet possum is wondering how this applies to getting corporate work?
Previously I wrote about your mysterious, vanishing corporate contacts. How they arrive in a bluster of urgency and commitment, then disappear like Cinderella at midnight.
When this is your only chance, desperation becomes your only option.
Don't be desperate - luck is like "overnight success". It's a fairy tale.
We call it luck because we cannot predict it - that is different from saying we cannot construct it.
Yes, you can construct your luck.
You throw the right seeds into fertile soil - some will prosper.
A 1,000 tropical hibiscus seeds thrown onto a dessert have got Buckley's chance of succeeding. But throw 10 seeds into a rainforest, and it's a different story.
Luck is on its way.
Luck is fairy tale - the truth is, luck can be created.
In my London workshop - and later with my Online course - I will be showing you how to create luck and get work. The seeds and the soil matter.
Stop being a victim; start being in charge.
