How To Create Theatrical Groups

Jul 16, 2017

Right now, 34 teachers are exploring group teaching online with me.

We are exploring a theatrical model of teaching Alexander's discovery into a group.

The theatricality of the group arises out of, a student being willing to explore with you, what is vulnerable and alive for them.

Create the safety, students take the risks.

Once you get this - you don’t have to dream up a teaching plan, the teaching plan does itself. The group is powerful every time…

The way you run your group an exercise is personal vulnerability and surrender.

You can trust it will be powerful, you cannot plan for it to be powerful. There is little you can compare the experience to, because there are very few groups that hold so clearly the relationship of movement, emotion and belief.

How do you get that safety in your group, so that students will take the risks?

The core strategy is to assemble a like-minded community. A community full of empathy for each other. This is how vulnerability peeps out from under its shell.

Your group has a theme, and the theme is NOT:

“Exploring the Alexander Technique”

NO.

Your theme is to explore whatever THEY (the students) want to explore.

How to sing. How to massage. How to be a therapist. How to play an instrument. How to ask for a raise from your boss. How to ask a girl out that you met in a park…

All of those have been activities in my group.

This is the core of the ATSuccess approach – building a service around an activity, that a community of people want to explore. In my 60Day Foundations course, you learn how to set all this up.

ATSuccess is about BOTH: the way you teach (your service) and the way to attract them (your community). Attracting students is one part of teaching them – or markeaching as I like to call it.

Put your name down to find out more.
