You need warm-ups!!!
You didn't know?
Whether it's getting out of bed, or performing for the climax of your career – getting your Self ready for action is a 'warm-up.'
Here's a list of things you don't want to do:
- use substances to wake you up (a cup of tea works best)
- make it physically rigorous while mentally weak
- try to be correct, exact or right
When I first started coaching performing artists on how to warm-up, I began with actors. Then I included dancers and finally musicians. Overall, with each group, it surprised me how little consciousness was involved - how mechanical they made the whole process.
Here's a list of things you do want to do:
- imagine you are being watched
- spend time mentally preparing
- practice making mistakes
By 'mentally' I mean waking up consciousness – the executive mind keying in intuition to work according to a well-designed plan.
Alexander's Discovery gives you the means to insert mental awareness into physical movements – it is the mind-body bridge artists seek.
Dancers often tell me that whenever they incur an injury - looking back later, they realise that their injury occurred at the exact moment their consciousness left their movement. They were off worrying about something in the past or the future.
And only always - this was the case!
Ask this: what are you warming up: the physical Self or the whole Self?
And: how are you warming up?
You are warming up your ability to do what you want to do.
By helping artists to insert their consciousness into their movements – you make it a true expression of what they want. You can do this with an accurate understanding of how our movement system is designed to work.
Alexander's Discovered one essential truth – that how you use your movement system will affect the way you function: at anything you want to do. FM discovered that your head/spinal movements influence all the systems that keep you alive.
In a warm-up, you want to wake up the consciousness of how you do what you are doing. This activity is mastery in the making. Part of your mastery lies within your knowledge of our human movement system: bones, joints, muscles and ranges of movement.
This month you have a chance to gain permanent access to a library of information about Body Mapping, Alexander's Discovery and your ability to analyse and transform movements.
It's quite a package of goodies, and it includes personal coaching with me online in January, February and March. You can read more about what's on offer, and purchase it at the link be below.
My offer closes December 31st petal – look now and decide soon!
