I Am Fired

I had an important decision to make:

Was I going to go ahead with 5 years of tertiary-related studies, go back to high school, then study for a full degree…?

(& stop drinking)

As I was considering this, I was summarily dismissed as a teacher at the school I founded. Life happens.
 
Since I was inexperienced – 3 years as a teacher – our new Director decided that I was not a needed as a full-time teacher for the school. Instead, the teachers I sponsored to immigrate to Australia took over. The advice was that I should continue with the public residential program I had initiated.

I was hurt. And outraged.

Maybe it was this situation that helped movtivate me to seek information on enroling at the East Sydney Technical college as “mature age student” – I was 28. I learnt that I must study high school Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics to metriculate into a Science Degree at Dr David Garlick’s NSWU (univeristy) Physiology Department.

Meanwhile, the students started to notice that I wasn’t around anymore. When they asked me why – I explained. There was an outcry.

So this was my 1983 – tettering on the crest of new life, or carrying on with the one I had started… Would the student outcry get me reinstated at SATA training school, or would I wander off into a new academic life?
