It’s Time For Me To Have A Break. Really? From What?

Apr 05, 2014

One of my close family friends always dreams of a biz that will do itself. A few years ago, she came into a large swop of cash. Money in hand, she sought out an online biz that was delivering profits monthly without too much work. She paid a lot of money to acquire the biz, and then her nightmare started… It’s every entrepreneur’s dream to find an easy biz like that, and that is mostly what it is. A dream. Within two years my friend had lost all her cash, her fancy car and even her family home. All gone. No business does itself. [NOTE: This second half of my blog is a paid area getting more practical about my general comments above with the other teachers and students in my ATSuccess group. You need to feed your biz all the time. The key to the lazy life - if that is what you seek - is focused delegation and passive wealth. What Is Focused Delegation? One of my mentors - who does have a lot of free time - once remarked: it takes a lot of focus to earn good money. He takes off several months a year, and yet he still pulls in over a million dollars in annual income. However, in his recreational time, he is not going into an on again, off again state - he is on all the time. He is a switched on, alert person who never delegates or abdicates from the job of steering his business, not for one second. You can have a life where others do most of the work for you, whether they be real people or intelligently devised automated systems. However, the “focused” part is the requirement to have oversight, to keep watch, to track your metrics. Consistently. This is maintaining focus. We all applaud the need for rest, for breaks, and I am a total supporter of that. However, I know I have confused the idea of “break” with dumbing down and switching off. I don’t consider that a “break” anymore - I consider that dysfunctional. When you push out of your life - by consciously switching off in regards to that - any element that has been constructive and positive, you have to wonder: what sabotage game is your unconscious is playing with you? Why would you want to take a break from a thing that has made a significant difference to your life? I discovered my own answer to that question, I beg you all to find your own. For me, it comes from my perceived pressure of staying awake. My default is to descend into sleep: to vegetate, do no thinking. Watch TV. Read a trashy novel. Switch off. I find I am always inviting my Self into sleep: come on, you did good this week, just forget for awhile. It’s OK. Now I see, that’s not taking a break, that’s copping out. Once I started to see the difference, I found another quality of “break” that before, I could not have imagined even existed. Part of that is my crying regime, part of that is meditation. Katie once remarked: “It’s not called The Work for nothing.” Alexander also liked to describe what he did as The Work. You never want to take a break from staying awake - that’s what I am (joyfully) coming to understand. The power of wakefulness is better than anything. If you decide to stay awake, be sure of one thing. Life. Will. Get. Better. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ATCSProMembers/
