Lulie Westfeldt wrote a book about her training time with Alexander in Ashley Place in London. She joined Marjorie Barstow on the first training, running from 1931 ~ 1933.

In 1964 she published her book "F. Mathias Alexander: The Man and His Work." It was a shocking book, full of revelations and disappointments about her time with FM. It was hardly flattering, and yet it came across with a ring of truth.

In 1967, Lulie was one of the founders of the American Centre for the Alexander Technique (ACAT). They have been training teachers in the USA longer than any other school.

And I heard they are closing. Is it true?

However, it is not an isolated phenomenon. David Moore, who has run the most successful teacher training program in Australia for over 20 years, is now down to 8 trainees. Even BodyChance has felt this change - and is taking measures to counteract it.

Is this a worldwide trend?

In fact, around the world, many training schools are closing. One well-known teacher of many decades tells me (s)he is on the edge of bankruptcy. Something is shifting in the world, in our Profession - and you want to get in front of this movement, not be a victim of it.
