How do you remember the gender of a foreign word?

In France, for example, the particle you speak is different - depending on whether the gender of your noun is masculine or feminine.

A boat is a man, but the chair is a girl. 

And no-one can tell you if Paris is a girl or a boy (which actually makes sense).

Bill Conable is a cellist, Alexscovery teacher, Professor and founder of BodyMapping and visitor to Japan. He is also the guy who gave me the solution to learning genders in German.

With his wife, they would alternate spending an hour every evening reading Harry Potter out loud to each other. They read through all the books, and by the end, they knew the illogical genders of most common nouns without being able to tell you consciously what they knew.

This is an example of our fast-thinking deeper brain grasping all we need to know without having to know it. Hence the opening quote above.
