Living for the Revelation

It was ages ago, in the living room of a house in Sydney, that I had my epiphany.

I was with my two best friends, and we had been meeting every night asking a simple question:

"Do we trust each other?"

Our immediate answer was an emphatic "YES!" Then we would start to ask questions, explore how it should look if we did trust each other. And slowly - inexorably - we would come to a subdued realisation…

"We did not trust each other; not really."

The moment was always the same.

Three stunned thinkers, in a stupor of silence, staring into space, wondering.

Are we so alone?

In Tokyo, when a person tries to commit suicide by jumping in front of a train, the JR railway company "unofficially" instructs it's workers not to interfere. They should not attempt to physically stop the person - because they may place themselves in danger, and they may be blamed for unexpected outcomes.

Simple: if you want to die, you are on your own.

Many philosophers, deep thinkers and religious figures stake out a similar position - your actions and the life you have are all reflections of your world. You are alone.

As Byron Katie puts it: "No two people have ever met."

You use another person as a white screen upon which you project your movie about them. It's never about them; it's only about you. We are alone.

And yet, is that all there is? Is there more?

You bet there is. Alexander's process is transparent on this point - you can only help your Self, AND that is the way you help others. Me first, then you. I help you as I helped my Self.
