Do you stay friends with EX lovers?

There seems to be two categories of behaviour:

ONE – Those that stays friends with their "EX" (can we have coffee at least?)

TWO – Those that never want to see their "EX" (stop calling me!!!)

American drama loves to promote Category Two behaviour: you know the scene…

She smells some perfume, notice he's just had a shower, then finds some panties. Next thing you know, she's packing her bag, grabbing the kids and heading to Grandma's.

"Talk to my lawyer!" is the last thing spoken while tearing out of the house.

(It's usually the woman finding out her dog of a boyfriend is at it again.)

So which one are you?

I am a Category ONE guy - let's stay friends. And it's hard. It's like Weight Watches, except in this case it is Love Watchers.

It's not like you stop getting hungry or stop loving - you just can't eat what you're used to eating anymore. You miss it. You get reminded of it every time you see dessert walking into the room. Sigh.

HOWEVER, I think real love belongs to Category ONE, and false love belongs to Category TWO. If your lover finds a new lover - and you love your lover - why wouldn't you be happy for them?

They found someone, isn't that good for them? Don't you love them?

No, usually we don't care for them. We care for us. When they don't make us feel good, we despise them. That doesn't sound like love to me.

Caring about the other person, rather than just caring about you, is the core skill set of a master salesperson. Not to manipulate, but to truly understand the other person's needs. A great sales person aims to do one thing:

Get you to a clear yes OR a clear no. Maybes have no place.

Making a sale is like being pregnant. There's no "maybe" I am pregnant. It's binary - you are or you're not. Same with selling - you are or you're not.
