Being a mammal means being in a community.

Being a mammal means looking to your community for 

- support
- companionship
- partners
- nourishment 
- and, ultimately, safety. 

Being rejected - for most of the 5,416 different species of mammals – means almost certain death. So…

NO WONDER WE SO DESPERATELY CRAVE APPROVAL!!!

Our yearning is instinctive, guttural and deeply biological.

And it wreaks havoc into the lives of men. 

(#metoo --> and womyn)

Which is why I was so startled this morning when I noticed my Self using my Self as a bio-feedback machine. I was my own feedback.

Well, not exactly me. The thing I was doing – THAT was my feedback.

I wonder if I can even explain it? Here we go…

Alexander's discovered something that is true about all mammals or – as I often point out – for all of the Phylum Chordata. 

- We have an entry and an exit hole
- Giving us a front and back orientation
- With a notochord signaling an axial structure…

 These are the start of what Alexander like to call our "Primary Control."

Which explained more simply means: how your head and spine function together to improve what you want to do.

Now the most crucial part of that last sentence is the latter phrase "to improve what we want to do." Once you get touched by a skilled Alexscovery teacher (AT) the subjective sensory experience is so unexpected, so beautiful, even so shocking - that THIS becomes your obsession.

To feel like that again! To get your experience back!

You're like a crack addict; constantly seeking to re- experience bliss, again and again.

People misuse Alexander's discovery a bit like this:

"I am going to ask my head to move and all my spine to follow so I can feel again what I felt before."

BUZZZZZZZ! DANG! BANG! No – you're out.

Remember the phrase from above?

"…to improve what you want to do."

You apply Alexander's discovery to your activities, not to your feelings. You use it to do something, not to feel something. For example…

This morning I was out doing my daily 5k-run (showing off), and I was experimenting with ways to utilize Alexander's discovery to enhance my running.

One particular thought – which is beyond being explainable here – produced an instant increase in speed, coupled with a reduced sense of effort. It was incredible, almost miraculous.

I was using my running as feedback for my thinking.

Hence the Subject: My Feedback is Not You – My Feedback is Me.

Oh, dear, I think this Daily was too ambitious.
