My Next Act

Well, I have been thinking a lot about my next step. I haven't given up blogging here. I have given up maintaining the intensity of what I had been doing the last 10 months. For some of you that could be a relief – there's already almost half a million words in this blog to read, and there may be a lot you've missed. I recommend you go back, and re-read some or all of it. At least go back over the three months from Jan 1st to March 24th, 2013. There is no other place on this internet where you can read such comprehensive, pertinent, up-to-date, leading-edge advice for Alexander Technique teachers on how to build your business. My blog so far comprises an almost total download from my brain of everything I have learnt in building BodyChance from zero to a 1 million dollar business. That took me 14 years to do, it need only take you 5. Less if you are smart, energetic and motivated. My next act is to take my million dollar business and turn it into a 10 million dollar business. According to all the material I've studied, that's easier to do. So far, it's feeling that way. And what I have discovered is that I need you to do it. It's not something I can do alone – it involves creating a team, or a series of teams, with individuals motivated in the same way I am. This blog is for people interested in joining BodyChance to make the dream come true: Alexander's Discoveries accessible to everyone on the planet. Why not? Let's start. Let's change the world. I am very interested in you if you have that ambition. You are welcome here even if you don't, but I am here for those that do. My first message is that you can't do this alone. It's not possible. You need to build a team, and putting that together in a way that works is my current obsession. I will individually coach anyone interested in that. It will cost you – so don't bother asking me if that is a problem. No more free rides from me. To build BodyChance into a 10 million dollar business does needs you, but I need to know you've got the stuff to stay the distance. Right now I am in the process of launching two new BodyChance studios: one in Los Angeles, the second here in Tokyo next April. Beyond that, I am looking to you to tell me how you think you could fit in to making a studio in your local area. I am also aiming to open a studio in London in 2015 if my children decide to go to school in the UK, so write to me if you are interested in that. Tell me how you could help… Actually, my family is my first priority – my business plans are shaped around their needs. If Angelica and Grace say yes to going to school in England, then I need a job in London. It's dependent on them. I advocate that for you too – build your business to suit you, not to suit other people. Do what will nurture your own development. Be selfish. Enlightened selfishness is best way to go about helping other people. Alexander Technique teachers know this – unless you take care of you, it is not possible to take care of the other. When we start to teach it feels counter-intuitive: I think I need to do something for you… No. I need to do something for me. That's how I help you. It is the same in business. Do it for you. Bring you happiness. When you tackle making a business that way, your business will flourish because you are happy. That's enough for today.
