Ouch!

May 30, 2017

James, an AT teacher in the UK and a member of ATSuccess Pro, wrote to me today about yesterday's dispatch:

***

In struggling to understand your blog published today, I have read it several times, smiled a bit and just for fun referred to my anatomy text books. You said:

"... Without it, the physiology required to imprint insight fails to energize. Celebration is physiology - it facilitates oligodentroglial cells to myelinate the axon pathways ignited by your discovery."

Do you mean oligodendrocytes, which I see form a supportive network around neurons in the Central Nervous System (CNS); which in turn form a myelin sheath around axons of neurons in the CNS, each oligodendrocyte wrapping myelin around several axons.

I'm really pleased that I now know what an oligodendrocyte is, but with the greatest respect, I fail to see the point you are making, or why you use complicated anatomical terms and spelt incorrectly!

Ooops. You're right James, my bad.

Oligodendrogial cell is a substitute name for oligodendrocytes, but what the hell is oligodentroglial cell?

A 'd' still living life as a 't', that's what.

But James was not done yet…

Again, you state that:

After locating the origins of his sensory feeback, and sorting out a contextual relationship with his head-spinal complex - his music progressed, his tension resided. and so I asked him:

"What does that do for you?"

Do you mean "... his tension reduced" (or declined perhaps). If you're saying that the tension continued to reside in him, that makes no sense to me.

The point I want to make, again with respect, is that there are several people studying under you whose mother tongue is not English and if you want to be taken seriously, then your English has to be accurate, if not necessarily pretty; and you need to be clearly understood.

Right again James!

Subsiding. Apologies to my foreign readers.

Mistakes - what to do?

Maybe people out there imagine a team of people running around doing all my bidding and I only wish. I have my appartment and when I am not teaching, I am sitting here - now 21.14 - pumping out emails, coaching online, writing scripts, making plans and doing admin to keep BodyChance and ATSuccess ticking over.

Which brings me to the point of this email.

When is perfect good enough?

Almost never. At some point you just get on with it.

I have a rule when writing my dispatches. I go through them three times.

1st time is the creative output.

2nd time is a structual edit.

3rd time is proofing.

After that - WARTS AND ALL - it goes out.

And I get on with my day. Or go to bed.

AND no apologies for that either.

AND I love to hear back about the bloopers I made. What I do do - please note my gratitude James - is fix the version published online within my blog here.

You might be better off reading that version - not the raw email that it started out as…

As for the hairy heterosexuals

- which James also claimed were mostly non-existant in soccEr -

sorry James, for that one I stick to my comic intentions.

There ARE hairy hetero-sexual soccer players (and hairy gay players too) and it's just too good a line to leave out.

Yes, people want to be entertained. I try.
