Revisited: Kit Racette in Montreal, Canada

May 24, 2013

As I will be doing over the next 11 Sundays, these are the follow up reports from the original 12 teachers that offered to have their own situation analyzed by me. Part One is here, and Part Two is here, and this is Kit's reply to my outrageous suggestions. Now read as Kit tells us of her amazing journey since then... *** So many restrictions fell away once I had digested Jeremy’s analysis of my answers to his original twelve questions. Bruce Fertman talks about AT being the means to melt the ice blocks in the river flow of energy in the body - my appreciation of Jeremy’s comments released the blockages to my creative flow  and I am grateful. I am now clear that my two passions can come together. I am fascinated by the relationship between how people occupy their bodies and how they view life. And I am passionate about helping people release themselves from grief after loss. Both of course come from my own story. AT has allowed me to free myself from restrictive habits both mental and physical and probably spiritual too. And that has impacted how I have dealt with my grief after my daughter’s death. I want to share what I have learnt as a result since my combination of age and experience and studies have given me a unique perspective. So how to put these together??? Until now I have been struggling with trying to offer Alexander Technique, Mindfulness, Unergi Body Psychotherapy and Grief Edu-Therapy and being all things to all people. I want to find my own “Product” that combined them all. Without realising it I had begun that process. I have just finished a two year training with Kevin McEvenue and Karen Whalen in a practice called Whole Body Focusing. Kevin combined Alexander Technique and Focusing to create Wholebody Focusing as a way of tapping into body wisdom. http://www.alexandertechnique.com/articles/focusing/. We have learnt how to listen more consciously with our whole bodies which feels very like the freedom that Alexandering myself creates. Much of this I had learnt from Unergi, which combines Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais and Gestalt as a way of changing the way memories are attached in the body. So I feel that I have gone full circle but in a much deeper way. And most importantly I have been able to give myself permission not to deliver these approaches as I learnt them. I can experiment to find my own way!! Working with my latest Grief Edu-Therapy group I am beginning to permit myself to experiment with bringing in body awareness so the new”product” is arriving organically. It is not by effortful making this new product that it will develop. I know I have to allow it to appear. True to Jeremy’s suggestions I have engaged mentors to help this happen. I am working with John Rasiej of Speak  Louder than Words to develop ways to talk to groups about my approach, how to package the product and how to find the confidence to be me!! I have also turned back to my very creative website creator Arlene Taveroff of Social Media a la Carte – she is super with words and images. I have been doing the rounds of the local funeral homes to see what they do and how I can morph my approach to fit their needs as well as determining what other grief relief programmes are already available. But what I am missing, and I realised this reading Jeremy’s piece on going it alone or with a team, is that I need to find some one with whom I can brain storm the development of the product. My niche: Release from the physicality of grief and the outlook on life will be taken care of. Possible domain: www.griefreliefatlast.com Thank you, Jeremy, for being part of this journey.
