Have you ever considered that?

There's a saying I love which captures it neatly:

"If you want something done, ask a busy person."

Recently, I went on a "secret" holiday - well, is it secret if I tell you?

OK - so I won't tell you where or with you, just that I did. In fact, no-one knew. Not my family, not my business. I didn't even tell any of my friends.

That's secret, right?

Why is my own business, but what happened was fascinating, so I share that. For this secret holiday, I totally shut down everything I was doing. I set up the 10 FM Soap Opera Dailies so I didn't have write it. I stopped all my international coaching - especially the 4am session!

Stopped my email. Everything.

And I sank.

Sunk.

Plop!

Not good. Actually - not even refreshing. I thought that's what I wanted, and it turns out I am happier when busy. It make sense. Our brains are not designed for stationary life.

I was reading John Medina's brain rules and in it he wrote:

"Anthropologists say that our ancestors moved fast and they moved far. Males may have walked and run 10 to 20 kilometres a day…"

What is 15k or 10 miles away from you now?

How would it be if you walked there, EVERY DAY. Imagine that?

Better to be busy. If you get through your to do list every day, you are not putting enough on it. Be the busy person everyone goes to.

Which is one more reason to give up saying:

"I am too busy now to do Jeremy's course in October." Be busy, I found you get more done, you grow and, well, it's good for your brain.
