Sometimes, You Just Have To Entertain

Jun 24, 2017

BodyChance has a chequered career with corporate gigs.

Big learning curves for jc (ME).

(I need a nick name for my Self - any ideas?)

First big shock was with a famous bank here in Japan.

Years ago now, can't say which bank - they don't like it. One the big ones. We had a strong supporter who opened the door for us. I didn't do it because, well jc has no Japanese, he is often in Australia, and bringing a translator in toe is clumsy/difficult to price/organise and follow through etc. etc. etc.

I sent my best teacher. Or so I thought.

And then the complaints come back.

What!?

Yes, welcome to the corporate world where up is down, round is straight, and if you smile and say "interesting" - it means f**k off.

I had a big learning curve, and it turns out THEY were right.

BodyChance got it all wrong. A new learning curve about teaching groups.

When teaching a corporate group - while all my precious, little teaching principles do still apply - YOU MUST CONSTRUCT an entirely different form. In teaching corporate groups - form is all. What is form?

Form turns out to be theatre, beyond plain education. Infotainment.

My plan for the 90 minute seminar yesterday even included the jokes. It included psychological strategies to shock, confuse, enlighten and entertain. I delivered it as an actor delivers a script - sometimes allocating…

3 minutes for this
2 minutes for that
10 minutes (wow!) on - get the idea?

Members of ATSuccess are well trained in this aspect of presentation.

When you write your first real Sales Letter – or Invitation Letter as some ATS members prefer to call it – has the same deep psychology woven into its many layers.

A corporate workshop is where my concept of markeaching truly comes into play.

[Marketing + Teaching = Markeaching]

It is a sales event, a learning event, an entertainment and a wake-up call.

ALL IN ONE.

Wanna be asked back? Make sure THAT is what you deliver.

These people are tired, busy, mentally stressed and - usually - totally bored by the "chalk and talk" mandatory trainings they are often obliged to attend.

They don't want to be there.

THAT'S the audience you are walking into it. Be warned.

Leave nothing to chance. Create a psychological journey, an adventure.

That's why I am so excited to be planning my 8 session online course on group teaching, starting July 10th. I'm doing it for ME, not you. But you're welcome to listen in. (if you pay)

There's not just ONE formula - it's about environments, people, contexts and situations. I am allergic to generalizations. You need to be specific. And I will be, with each attendee.

Tomorrow I will tell you the terrible story of how we lost the bank.

And while you wait, dear reader, click below and register to hear the gory details of my new 8 week online course on…
