Thank You All!

What an amazing trip this has been. I want to thank you all for your participation, your passion and your commitment to you in pursuing your dream to make a professional, paying, Alexander Technique teacher's life. I understand the difficulties involved, and I look forward to meeting some of you next Sunday in London. I never set out to make money with this blog: my primary intention was to get into contact with possible partners of BodyChance so I could expand into other countries. From that point of view, my blog has been a wild success – I have a studio opening on Monday, August 12th in the middle of Hollywood, Los Angeles as a direct result of this blog. Wow. Thank you all for that. And I am pursuing other leads with some of you. Feel free to write to me if you have a wish to be involved with BodyChance. I loved writing here – I really did – but the facts are these: I have spent more than $5,000 building this site, preparing materials, gathering videos etc. However, as of now, only one person continued on with paid membership for August at the rate of $48 per month. It's not viable for me to continue the site with just one person, so I have decided to close the site. I understand how difficult it is to pay for something as ethereal as online advice, especially when it has been pouring forth for free, and I wish I knew a better way to go forward but I don't. I currently pay $US2,500 for my own monthly advice, so I thought $48 was a reasonable amount to ask, but obviously I misjudged that. I am sorry about that – for both of us. It's not possible to make it less than that, so what to do? Closing the site is the only logical option I have. Let me tell a story which illustrates my last piece of advice for you… It is a story of a man who was pious and dedicated, and had 5 fundamental vows that he kept: not to harm others, not to steal, not to lie, no sexual misconduct and no intoxicants. His adviser repeatedly told him that the most important vow he had was the last – the vow of sobriety. Why? One day the man found himself in the pub with an old friend, who urged him to have a beer at the local. "What does one beer matter?" the man thought. So he drank. Then another man came and asked him: "Aren't you breaking a vow now?" "No" (the first lie) the man drunkenly answered, and shoved the man away (another vow broken). The night degenerated until eventually the man broke all 5 vows. Sometimes, one action is a key to others. All else rests on the first step. When tyring to build a business, I believe this first step is to pay for mentoring advice. Take that one simple step, and a chain reaction starts. All those other things you already know you need to do but don't get done – they get done. It starts working. However, it seems I failed to communicate this most important lesson: I led you the wrong way by making it all free and the only way I know to make that right is to return to my mission of building BodyChance and wish you all well in building your own businesses.
