THE MAZE - How Stupid Gets Smart

I'm sitting in a meeting with my BodyChance team. 9 full-time staff, including me.

EXCEPT, it doesn't include me, not really.

They are all speaking Japanese and I don't understand a damn thing. However, they are passionate, lively and engaged, so why get in the way? Instead, I write to you.

After 18 years of uninterrupted growth, BodyChance is experiencing its first year of contracted growth. An oxymoron? Our income has decreased. Not by much, but enough to have us all asking…

WHY?

Do you know what's happening in your practise?

One teacher often writes to me saying: "We are close to bankruptcy" - but WHY?

It's all about seeing the pattern. Pattern recognition.

You practise it while teaching all the time, why not apply the same skill to your practise?

There are associations between phenomena that can explain your predicament. FM identified these in his own behaviour. He called it the maze…

"When, however, I came to try to make practical use of this discovery, I found myself in a maze. For where was I to begin? Was it the sucking in of breath that caused the pulling back of the head and the depressing of the larynx? Or was it the pulling back of the head that caused the depressing of the larynx and the sucking in of breath? Or was it the depressing of the larynx that caused the sucking in of breath and the pulling back of the head?"

EXACTLY

FM had seen his pattern - now he had to figure how it worked. How well do you recognise the biz patterns in your practice? How do your actions influence each another, and how does that influence your financial result?

Here's an example….

Amazon.com offers low prices. This attracts people. With more people coming, 3rd parties want to sell on Amazon. This attracts even MORE people. Because of that, revenue goes up, while costs stay fixed. Therefore, Amazon can now offer even lower prices!

Get it? The "maze" starts all over again…

We all live in mazes - just like FM found. They are everywhere.
