“Top, Pop, Hip” – A One-Second-Plan to Delay Aging

Aug 22, 2020

As you age, here’s a menu of your potential future:

- lower energy and motivation
- friends dying all around you
- shortness of breath when exerting yourself
- fatigue, tiredness and tummy upsets
- knees that start twitching in pain
- a constantly sore lower back
- headaches, neck aches and grumpiness

Maybe some of it has already started for you?

Ageing will happen, nothing you can do about that.

But the onset of “aging” can be delayed!

And pains can be overcome—right to the end.

The first step is the management of your movement system.

Postural management is more important than what you eat or how much you exercise. Which is a surprise to a lot of people. Posture is not often considered as vital to your health.

But it is.

The biggest eater of energy is your muscular system – that’s why you eat and exercise!

But how skillfully and how often do you actively manage how your movement?

This is why you need a one-second-plan: it is a postural re-organisation based on Alexander’s Discovery.

How many thoughts can you fit into your one-second-plan?

If you’ve ever experienced a severe accident, you know that you can have a vast number of thoughts into a very short space of time. Tibetan meditational masters claim that you can have 64 individual thoughts within one second.

Well, as you age, you’re going to need all those 64 thoughts!

Over time at BodyChance, you discover each of those 64 elements and how to plough them back into your one-second-plan to optimise your postural management.

Within that second, your many thoughts will fall into three main categories:

TOP
Imagining your head/spine relationship extending and expanding…

POP
…so that from below your neck your arms pop forward…

HIP
…so that you slightly increase flexional movement at your hips…

…so that you can:

- take a step
- eat some food
- lift your hand to the keyboard
- take a breath to talk
- decide to get up
Etc.

It’s that simple. And it takes years to perfect.

Alexander claimed it was an “evolutionary step” unique to humans, made necessary by our creative destruction of the natural environment.

Can’t argue with that.
