Tough Love For Schizophrenic Teaches

Sep 02, 2017

Markeaching is a word I invented to challenge schizophrenic Alexscovery teachers who continue to think dumb things like:

"I like teaching, I hate marketing."

If that's you - get ready to be assaulted. Kindly.

In AA - and other groups that deal with stubborn behaviours that produce lives of suffering - "tough love" is considered kind.

What is good about being "nice" when a person is drowning?

A drowning person needs decisive, clear, direct instructions. No please or thank-you's are required. Just save my life please.

Well, if your practise is dyeing - or you haven't a clue how to build one - here's my advice. If you are saying to your Self:

"I like teaching, but I am no good at marketing"

…it is akin to saying:

"I love my body, hate my mind."

OR

"I love my thinking, but can't stand my body."

It's a schizophrenic, divided Self. How does that fit with FM's ideas of unity?

Another name for a "body" is cadaver. DEAD. "Body" is also the word detectives use for a murder victim. Body is not who I am, nor you. We are people, not separated concepts of body and mind.

And within teaching and marketing, it is the same.

These are two aspects of one whole. While it can be useful to distinguish the qualities of marketing (or mind) verses the qualifies of teaching (or body) -  NEITHER EXISITS WITHOUT THE OTHER. NOT EVER.

And so it is in teaching/marketing.

Hence: Markeaching.

See?

You must market the concept of head influencing spinal movement to your students. And it's not an easy idea to get across. Gosh, there are people who have studied this work for years, AND STILL DON'T GET IT.

Not only do you "market" ideas in teaching, you have to close the deal and "sell" that idea. Selling the idea means your student leaves your class committed to using this new idea in a practical way from now on.

If you are good at that - in the teaching room - then my dear friend (time for some "tender lover")…

YOU ARE GOOD TO GO ON MARKETING.

Yes, most of those teachers who say "I am no good at marketing" are actually fabulous marketers in their teaching room. Very capable of convincing their students to adopt this counter-intuitive way of dealing with their behaviour.

It needs study, it needs reflection and it needs practise.

All of which you can get done on my 60Day Foundations Course starting in October. Jump on board while you're clear and keen - it's certain you get fuzzy again without practise.
