WARNING of the Red Flashing Light
Mar 29, 2017My daughter Angelica was relieved to finally get her driver’s license.
It had been a long time coming, with some bad luck along the way. Last month she finally passed.
However, her bad luck was to continue…
Once she got her license, she already had a car to drive. It was a vehicle passed down through the family, but quite old. She lives in Mullumbimby, which proudly claims it is “The Biggest Little Town in Australia” on a big sign you see when you come to the turnoff.
ABC TV declared it to be “the counter-cultural capital of Australia”. Half the residents of Mullumbimby don’t realise that the 60s are over. Bare-chested men still parade around the streets shoeless, with flared jeans and flowers in their hair (no kidding).
Mullumbimby is as strange as its name, and it’s quite a long drive to get anywhere.
So Angelica took her car and starting driving down the motorway once a week at 90km to study nursing at a college campus in Kingscliff.
When cars overheat, there is a red light that starts flashing. Or a temperature gauge moves into red. There are signs, warnings before disaster hits...
What happened to Angelica? Did the systems fail? Did she not notice?
Coming down the Motorway, it happened.
Scary noises coming from the engine. Smoke appearing in front of her. A loud bang.
SHE SCREAMED TO A HALT.
But the car was ruined, the engine destroyed by its own heat.
Drama like doesn’t strike without warning – that’s a fairy tale.
For the aware and awake, there are red lights flashing all around you. When you see a red light flashing, that is the time to act. Wait too long, and you’ll burn out.
People who have “sudden” heart attacks have plenty of warning signs. They just don’t listen. Business that fail have a long time to recognise it. Back in 1987 Warren Buffet asked Bill Gates about how digital was going to affect film. Bill’s answer:
“Kodak is toast”
In 2012, Kodak filed for bankruptcy. If Gates could see that 15 years before the event, what happened to the bosses at Kodak?
Your practice is probably the same.
There are signs everywhere telling you what the future is bringing… Act now, avoid pain later. The world is changing faster than you can think.
Are you paying attention?
If Kodak had been paying attention, they had the resources to reengineer their biz. What they failed to realize, is that first they had to reengineer their thinking.
That’s what you do in ATSuccess. Think different. Don’t be Kodak.
Your biggest hurdle is reinventing your idea of what you are doing. That’s what I take you through on my free email seminar on the 12 steps of ATSuccess. Think different.
