Website Don't Matter, MUCH

People carry one about websites, but they don't matter. MUCH.

Not if you follow the plan I advocate. I'd love to think my idea is original, fresh, startling - get the picture?

The trouble is, it's not.

It's as old-fashioned as a cave man with a club. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. He's going to offer you the club, not hit you with it. He's learning. It's all about relationships.

If you're a dentist, doctor, masseur, lawyer, pharmacist, voice teacher, Yoga instructor or even a life coach - people know what you're peddling. They understand your service, and for them, it's a matter of picking the best dentist, the best doctor, the best masseur, the best lawyer…

Get the idea?

BUT. BUT. BUT.

What if you are an Alexscovery teacher? An "Alexander Technique" teacher? A person peddling Alexander's discovery?

Do people even know what that is?

Heck, half the people who have studied it struggle to tell their friends - and that's after a year of lessons! We have a new kind of marketing problem. Not alone - others are creating new, astonishing things that people take time to grasp. Like the internet for example.

There's a famous story about a French businessman who was being sold on getting into the internet, and in exasperation he demanded:

"I want to speak with the President of the internet!!"

No can do, and Alexander is the same.

Instead - you need to talk about the problems your work can solve. You need to help people see how they fit in with what you are offering.

You need to develop a relationship with a person.

And you can't do THAT with a website.

You do THAT by building a list of people.

Then you start writing to those people, developing a relationship through giving them value.
