Why is Simple So Damned Hard?

You want easy - or you want simple?

They sound the same don't they?

NO. Not so. No Way. In fact, simplicity is complex. Ask Apple about that. An iPhone may be simple to use, but the complexity of it is mind boggling.

And so it is in building your practice.

What you need to do is SIMPLE, but not easy.

Taking the "Easy" path means falling prey to time-wasting strategies - that make you feel like you are achieving something. Things like:

  • Making your studio look nice
  • Fussing over how your website looks
  • Going to workshops to learn to be a better teacher
  • Talking with colleagues about how to grow your biz
  • Working on a nice design for your flyer or biz card
  • Doing your financials, analysing how much money you make

Nothing wrong with any of the above.

But none of them will build your practise. Here's what "simple" looks like:

  1. Build a list of fans
  2. Write to them every day
  3. Sell something every day

That is simple, but it is NOT easy.

  • How do you build a list?
  • What do you write about every day?
  • What kind of "product" should you sell to your fans?

It's like Alexander's labyrinth of head going back, depressing the larynx and gasping for air. In this case…

Is it the fans that motivate you to write your email? Or is it your email that motivates more fans to come? Or is it what you sell that motivates the fans? Or is the selling motivating you to write your email?

And so on and so on.

Building a successful business is complex thing - unique to each person in every way - but the actions you need to do are no big mystery. Really quite simple.

But simple is not easy. You need help.
