Working Too Hard and Feeling Exhausted
Jul 29, 2019"I will work hard on that Marj!"
I was assuring my 89-year teacher Marjorie Barstow to use the advice she had just given me.
"oh," she replied, "why don't you work easy?"
Oops.
Do you work hard?
A lot of people these days do - then start feeling uncomfortable in your body – then it's hard to keep going.
Alexander's discovery is like a postural training service.
When you train in postural management, you immediately start saving energy. That's one of the purposes. Again, Marj was funny about that. She told me once that when people ask what her work is, she answers by saying:
"Conservation of energy."
And that's the result of implementing Alexander's discovery into your life. Your Mind starts working faster. You get more things done and enjoy doing them more.
And of course, Alexander "Postural management sessions" are very different from physical therapy – people need to understand that.
Physical therapy is a mostly passive experience. Your therapist does things to you. Afterwards, you feel better - until you don't feel better again.
You end up being in a hamster wheel: getting treatments -> getting better -> working hard – getting uncomfortable -> getting treatments. Your condition does not essentially change.
People change when the pain of staying the same is more than changing.
Then they want to know: what is good Posture anyway? How do I do it?
Alexander's version of postural management gas got almost nothing to do with what most people's version of postural movement. Good Posture originates from how you think. Yes, Mind plays a significant role in the way you deal with your Posture in Alexander's way, and that comes as a surprise to many people!
By using your intelligence, they find a fresh way to approach the aches and pains of a long, daily schedule. You may not be able to change your workload - you can change how you manage it. Feeling more energy, less pain and having a positive mental condition are all results of well-managed Posture.
It truly is one of the final frontiers of health - an area that many people have thought about, but so very few have been able to solve.
At Golden Week next year in Japan, this one way I like to pose the work to newcomers and old alike. Come along and join us – tick off the bucket list item:
"Must visit Japan one day."
There's no better way to do it than this – meet real Japanese, and enhance your work while you do it. Still one room available:
