M01.03 – Golden Week

May 07, 2013

What’s this? Here I am looking into the eyes of a gorgeous woman. She is looking back into my eyes with radiant beauty and I find myself drawn into an intimacy that surprises me by its unexpectedness. I am at an Alexander Technique workshop – really? Yes, a BodyChance one. At BodyChance our wish is to meet the whole person – and I am certainly doing that! How did I get here? I have Brett to blame for that. With his Argentinian partner Anna, he is leading us through a Tango class. He warned everyone when he announced it to the group: don’t come if you are afraid of intimacy with the opposite sex. Who me? Never! Except I was. In Tango you must let your eyes seek the woman. She can meet you, or cast her eyes away and that is her no. This year our mini-Festival is packed full – 18 different workshops from 7am to late night, and as many again tomorrow. There was even a Kimono workshop – with Cathy Madden in a Kimono. Look on my FaceBook page for that... There are 110 people here, all leaning, laughing, rejoicing in being in a work that has one aim – to help us co-operate and grow with the wonderful mechanism we inherited – our Self. As I write now at 10.21pm, I hear the occasional laughs of people preparing for the no-talent show in two days. There’s a man with a tuba, several horns, opera singers, dancers, actors, salary workers, unemployed people, and 20 Alexander Technique teachers, 15 of them educated at BodyChance. This is an evolving dream coming true. I wish that you could all be a part of the magic that is happening in Japan. Yesterday I sat with two wonderful teachers – Ken Arno and Basil Kritzer – and we spent a fruitful hour talking about what drives our vision. The audio of that is now available in the Audio Directory for Basic Full and Pro Members. This is the first in a series of 12 interviews that I will be doing on the 12 Point Plan. Go download and listen to it now. My drive now is to take this to America. Why America? Because the world needs Alexander's Discoveries, and I know – deep in my being – that I have figured out how to lift our work into its rightful place in the life of our society. I will not live to see how this plays out, but I am confident to be remembered as the guy who finally cracked the Alexander Technique business model, the guy who finally found employment for Alexander Technique teachers. My dream is that all my teachers will be in demand, that I can not educate them fast enough for the demand. This will come true one day: and it will be one of the biggest challenges I face. Believe it or not, I am preparing for that eventuality now. So this is the other side of a success driver – a big dream, a really, really big dream. I have dreams in my that I don’t share, because people would think me insane. But you can go there in your imagination – go wild, go global, go big. The bigger the vision, the more you will get done. TOMORROW: No posts on Sunday!
